Sikkim is a state in North East India. It shares borders with Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal. It also shares borders with part of Himalayas and offers some stunning views. Kangchenjunga, India's highest mountain at 8,586 meters, is in Sikkim. The state is also covered with glaciers, alpine meadows and different kinds of wild flowers. You can also visit ancient Buddhist monasteries, like Pemayangtse, which was built in the 1700s.Sikkim is known for its diverse climate, with snowy mountains in some areas and warm subtropical weather in others. The capital city of Sikkim is Gangtok.

Day wise Itinerary


Day 1
A Day in Gangtok with Culture, Food and Adventure

On reaching New Jalpaiguri Junction Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport, you can travel to your hotel in Gangtok. On the way, you can enjoy river rafting on the Teesta River.Once you reach Gangtok, you can check in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day exploring the city. In the evening, you can visit Mahatma Gandhi Marg which is a popular place where tourists and locals gather. It is perfect place for taking photos, enjoying food and for some shopping. There are many restaurants offering a variety of dishes. One good option is Shuffle Momo’s Restaurant, where you can try local snacks while enjoying a great view of the city. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making it a relaxing spot to visit. For dinner, try Hamro BhansaGhar, a great place to taste authentic Nepalese food. It is a wonderful place to enjoy some tasty Nepalese dishes. After a full day, relax and spend the night at your hotel in Gangtok.

Day 2
A Scenic Adventure to Tsomgo Lake and Nathula Pass

Once you have had your breakfast, you can go for a jeep ride to Tsomgo Lake situated at an altitude of 12,400 feet. The lake receives its water from the snows surrounding it. Following this, you can proceed to visit Baba Mandir which is at 13,200 feet, 55 km from Gangtok. Then you may also go to Nathula Pass, which is a high-altitude pass between India and China at 14,140 feet. It is a unique spot where you get to experience heavy snowfall and be proud of the Indian soldiers guarding the border. You can return back to Gangtok at night after this. All you need to remember is that Tsomgo Lake remains shut on Mondays and Tuesdays, so plan accordingly.

Day 3
Gangtok Local Sightseeing

After a delicious breakfast, you can step out to see the sights of Gangtok. Begin with Tashi Viewpoint, Ganesh Tokand Hanuman Tok. Enjoy the Flower Show and traditional crafts at the Cottage Industry and Handicraft Centre. Study Tibetan culture at the Institute of Tibetology, followed by Dro-dul Chorten and Enchey Monastery. Finish off the tour at Banjakhri Falls. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 4
Journey from Lachen to Lachung

Following the breakfast, you can depart for Lachung, 45 km from Lachen. On arrival, you can check into your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay..

Day 5
Experience the Beauty of Yumthang Valley

After breakfast, you can drive to Yume Samdong (Zero Point), it will be a tough journey but the view once you get there will make it all worth it. You can then visit Yumthang Valley which is also known as the Valley of Flowers, located at 12,000 feet. On the way back, you can halt at a hot spring, it is believed to have healing properties. After lunch at your hotel, check out and start your journey to Gangtok. If the weather is clear, you might spot Mount Kanchenjunga from Singhik Viewpoint. Once you reach Gangtok, check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening. Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 6
Departure from Gangtok

After a filling breakfast at the hotel, check out and head to Bagdogra Airport for your return flight.
